Hello Everyone.

Here is a site of myths and legends that has always intrigued me.

In an area of Gwent South Wales there is a mountain that has an ancient earthen mound on it. From a distant it looks like a nipple. The call this mound Twmbarlum or Twmbarlum. The locals of the area has many legends about it.

Officially it is said that it is the remains of a bronze age fort on it. And a later moat and Baily castle in which there are no remains of. The site stares out over the Bristol channel looking across to the old enemy of the past.

Local folklore tells of a mysterious giant was buried there. Another legend tells the story it was the burial ground of a great clan leader and warriors who fought the Romans at Cerwent and Caerleon. Others tell stories that it was a burial site of the druids.

Many legends and folklore surround this site Twmbarlum on the Mynydd Maen. Even today there is tradition that at least once a year locals would make a pilgrimage to the site to stand upon the barren hill and wonder what the history and secrets do that nipple of a hill contains.

Very interesting story you tell. Now one person who would know would be Alan Wilson. The site you mentioned is probably part of a star map as many of the mounds that exist in Wales are just parts of major stars the small nipple as you suggest it is could well be one of the smaller stars that are part of that constellation and does not contain anything of value.
However it is part of a particular constellation and as such would be a marker from which to find other parts of the constellation leading eventually to the major star which could contain something of value or the burial of a Major King in that area.
Naturally as with anything to get a full understanding of mounds and burial mounds such as this you are advised to read
