Hello from North East Alabama. Hello

I just found this site and look forward to learning more as time permits.

A friend just told me of he & a friend finding a several of ounces of Gold in Cleburne County AL back in the mid 60's one summer when they were just out of High School. Shocked

That is what inspired my search of Gold in Alabama.

I had no idea. But this looks to be a promising fun hobby. Great

Hey, CrossCreek. Welcome to the forums. If it weren't for Sutter's mill in 1848, people would be a lot more familiar with the Georgia gold rush of 1828. The gold belt for that rush includes eastern Alabama (as you're finding out).

And BA, thank you for that illustration....... I live right at what is shown as North Central boundary part of the section in Alabama.
This is a revelation to me.
I never knew before yesterday that Alabama had a history that included Gold mining and prospecting.
