Hi there Gentleman, I'm Sharen from North Central Florida, and I am also new to this. What I did first was to watch youtube. Type in Metal Detecting and see what comes up. I took note on everything that the other members here talked about, and researched with the videos other MDers have posted.
As for beach hunting, being told how to find the areas during low tide, and then seeing what they talked about is much better in getting a grasp on how it is done. Also the different area's that have been detected and why they chose those places, was an outline on how I will do my homework.
This is a great hobby with benifits... I just love it... I haven't found the gold yet, but as my husband say's, the smile on my face after a day of hunting is "priceless".
Good luck to you, and have a safe and happy new year!
SharenH
