Looks like an interesting, informative web site. Just getting started.

Hello, Dave.

Welcome from Arizona.   So have you done much hunting on the beach yet?

BA - Thanks for the fast reply. No beach hunting yet, detectors are still somewhere between Kellyco and Saipan.
It's difficult to get companies to ship to this area and when they will, second day air takes about a week.

I saw the list of detectors you ordered on your other posting.  You should be well pleased with the results as long as you take the time to learn the detectors and the habits of people.   Remember that like most skills this is in very large part a mental game.  Good tools are important, but an honest person would have to say more metal detectors turn in poor results because of poor user techniques than there are detectorists who have bad results entirely because of poor equipment.   So if you find yourself not getting the results you think you should be, look first at where you are detecting, when you are detecting, and how you are using the equipment before you throw the detectors in the back of the closet.

Thanks for the info .... I've seen that advice before and believe it. That is why I tried to get good tools and decided to join this site. The E-Trac seems to have a large learning curve! There's tons of info on the web, a lot to take in. The areas where I plan to search will be challenging due to the great amounts of WW2 junk iron (and hopefully some good stuff).
The beaches are pretty clean, but still have the normal tourist trash. I hope the Excalibur tones are not too hard to learn.
Thanks for the input and advice. Suggestions always welcome - Dave

Thanks to all for the "Welcome" .... from everywhere .... wouldn't have guessed detectors were so wide spread.
