Hi Christian,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Thats a Minelab GP 3000 that I use. My favorite coil is the Nugget Finder? 17" elliptical mono.

I try to get out as often as possible I'm lucky that I live very close to productive placer ground.

Thanks for the welcome Sue and Outback'

The photo of the "rock and small nugget" the rock is a meteorite found at gold basin AZ thats in Mohave Co just south of Lake Mead.
One of the best things about prospecting hobby is it's ability to "pay it's way" now I'm not saying that's the case for all folks allot depends on the time you invest and getting onto a good spot. I've been very lucky in hitting a few good spots that have paid for some of my toys.

Hello Chris,

very interesting! Has this been your only meteorite so far or did you also find others?

Regards,

Christian

Cool that you have a gold basin meteorite. Years ago I was exchanging emails with a guy named John when he and his friends discovered they'd found the strewn field there. I enjoyed his "yippee" show & tell experience  Smiley

Prospecting and mining gold is such a neat thing to be doing right now. I'm just a little jealous! Happy hunting!

I've found a few space rocks at  and gold basin and franconian strew fields. Thrilling to find. Just holding a thing thats older than the earth and has traveled the heavens.

Sue the meteorite came from John B's claim I'm sure your referring to him. Folks that were hunting for nuggets would find "hot rocks" and pile them or put them up in the crotches of the trees and cacti. Till they found out what they were. It's a huge strew field. Just find white elephant wash in gold basin  it's west of Greg's hideout road just south of the lake mead park boundary. GPPA has a claim there.

photo's of the free nugget shooter annual outing at gold basin.

Yes, that's the John. "Claim" - meteorite claim? So the hot rocks everyone had been stashing aside turned out to be valuable/collectible. I think those guests from space, meteorites, are interesting and more keep popping in on us. Enjoyed the pictures of gold basin - looks like a nice place to relax and hunt. Sue
