Hi Christian
You guys a pretty lucky over there !   Why ? because of the history of human habitation in Britian and Europe for thousands of years have left plenty of metal artifacts around , over here although the Aborigines lived here for 40000years they never had or made anything of metal they still lived in the stone age and Australia wasnt settled until about 1783
and we still only have about 23 million people throughout the entire country today .
So unfortunately we havent left much metal buried around the place yet , no ancient coins and the like . so there isnt much excitement when we dig up a coin at the most it could be 200 years old and for the first 50 years of that it would be a British coin .
The only claim  to fame is there are a few good spots around the country where you could find some pretty sizeable gold nuggets , the biggest gold nugget in the world still in existance was found here and is now in The Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vagas

ETrac here I come

Ive just got the money to buy my ETrac yesterday  now its shopping time.
I cant buy Minelab detectors from USA they have some sort of restriction by Minelab Australia that prohibits them from exporting them back into Australia . Pity could of got a better deal over there .  They go for around $1700 AUD  here and they dont throw in any extras like Kellyco or some of the others over there . Aussie dealers are a tight fisted lot .

I'm sure those fists will relax somewhat when you wave the cash under their nose!
Just say something like "the guy over at XXX has offered me XXX as a package - can you do any better?"....... it always works!

yes been Opal hunting before pretty rugged country where they are , one place Cooper Pedy they dig a hole like cave size and turn it into their living quarters with bedrooms and living rooms , there is little rain in most of thoes places so they dont get flooded out .  naturaly the house gets bigger by the day as they keep digging through the walls lol. no gold there though thats mostly down the south eastern corner of Australia . could easily pay for your holiday in a couple of days if you get in the right patch .  That ETrac is coming home to big daddy in short few days .  then we'll sort the men from the boys down at the park
