Thanks for the photos.
I did take a google earth ride to Murphy Idaho.
Not sure if it the right place where you found the gun, but it sure looks very interesting.

Murphy is located along the snake river there is a lot of farming There. Reynolds Creek is where I found the gun. On a hill over looking the old school. It is about 12 mi so of Murphy. There is an old trail that winds down the Oyhees and in times past ore was shipped from Silver City to tie in with the old stage route to Nevada. The hill is private property but I had asked the owner if I could look for petrified wood. I had a bunch of kids from our rock hound club From Mountain Home with me when I found it.The wood there is really solid and takes a beautiful polish. This was over 20 years ago

Ya I love detecting and gold mining.I spent 30 years trapping and gold mining in Alaska before I ended up here in Idaho.I am 72 years now and maybe I can pass on some of my secret places to some who may be more fit than I. I learned a lot from an old gentelman named Smitty who I met in Delta Jct. Alaska. He was in his 80's in 1974. I used to pick him up and have coffee at the lodge with him.I have a few locations where I had claims at one time if anyone would be interested.I could post them.
