Howdy, kycoinhunter.   You've started off with a bang.  Don't be disappointed if every trip isn't as good as that first search of your front yard.   But if you pay attention to the tips our members share and most of all spend time with your detector, you'll find the hobby very rewarding (in more ways than one).

Hi, KY!  Welcome from the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon!   Welcome   Congratulations on the metal detector gift!  You must have been a good boy to get that!  Best thing to do is sit down with your manual and read through it a couple of times.  Play with the detector while you read and familiarize yourself with it.  Read it again and take it with you when you go hunting so you can see how it and the manual agree or disagree in the field.  Take notes that will help you remember what works and what doesn't.  It takes "practice, practice, practice" to get used to what the detector is telling you.  But the more you use it the better you understand it.

You started out great!  Great  Congratulations on your nice finds!  Keep it up and "keep on swingin'!"        Detecting
