Garrett ads III

Go Up Go Down

Hi,
I bought a new Garrett ADS III many years ago and used it one time to look for a pistol used in a murder case.  It was put away and not used again. I am now retired and have caught the MD bug.  I dug out the old ADS III and it is in like new condition.  I am now gearing up to start a new hobby. I hope it will serve me well, but I am also thinking about a new unit for the beach.

   Welcome from Arizona.

The Garrett ADS III will definitely serve you well.   The really big drawback to it is that it is much heavier than most of the newer detectors.   If you use the search function at the upper right corner and enter "Garrett ADS" and then search the entire forum, you'll find lots of user discussions on that machine.

Welcome from New Mexico.

Those ADS machine do a fine job.

Running a 5.5 KHz there a bit wimpy on Natural Gold but with the sniper coil you have a good chance.

That is a magnificent machine and top of the line for VLF/TR machines.

So, did you find the gun in question?

Howdy,
No, we didn't find the gun, but we did get a conviction...99years.  This was in deep South Texas brush country...lots of oilfield production metal trash around.  We believe the gun was dropped down an abandoned well.
