I'm up here in North Dakota also.. I bought a bounty hunter at costco years ago that seemed to be the best for me.. I'm going to hunt some of these old towns around here summer trying to research all the laws up here..   Hope you find the one that is right for you.. Don't forget to post your findings.. Have a good one.

Welcome aboard.  I just ordered a new detector last night off an internet site.  The site had a feature where I could put different brands and  models together and compare their features.  That cinched it for me.  I knew right away which one to buy.

Hello and  Welcome from North Dakota.  Actually I live in Moorhead, Mn, but I grew up in ND and still think like an North Dakotan.  My first MD was a White very basic back in the 70's.  It was really good at finding nails and pop tops.  I still have it storage somewhere.  In 2005 I bought an ACE 250.  This one is not a toy and I found hundreds if not thousand of coins and some rings.  I got hooked big time on MD and had to upgrade to what was arguably the best then.  A Mine lab Explorer II.   What a wonderful experience.  I got hooked even deeper into MD.  Damn those Mine Lab people.  They keep improving them.  So I got an Mine lab Explorer SE 2 years ago.  Now they have brought out the Mine Lab E-trac.  Where will all stop.   Crazy  I am going to have to add up all the coins I have found since I started and hope there is enough to get the latest and greatest.  I supposed I should get around to selling the Explorer II and the Explorer SE and give in to the E-trac madness.   Bang Head
