 Detecting New to this board, I have a Garrett 150, it's great! I find all kinds of stuff thats not there. I'm looking to see if I can improve on its ability to dectect metal, rings gold and so on. I've had it for about two years and use it once in a while. To date I after 10 ~ 12 hunts I think I've found about $25 dollars. Not much but the fun is in the hunt..  Angry. I'm thinking and I could be way off a deferent coil arrangement may make a difference. Experts please weigh in I'm open to advice. Thank you! ps. I do find Pop Tops, Cans and I do a killer job of finding and removing nails from beach sand.

Welcome Heptaz;
Sorry I didn't get back to ya right away, been movin the last couple of days. As for the questions, and statements reg. the Ace 150, it's a great machine for the price. I own a 250, and 3 Fisher detectors. My son owns an Ace 250 also. Yr before last we went down to South Padre Isl. TX. got there on Tue. eve. he wanted to go give the beach a try, so we unloaded our stuff and headed for the beach. We picked the first beach access we could find, in front of a hi-rise condo. After about 10-15 min. tectin, he found a 14 K mens wedding band with 4 diamonds, just goes to show that sucess in this hobby is determined by several things. LUCK being one of them, another is practice, practice, practice. Change that statement about tectin from use it once and awhile to more often, and your finds will increase as you skill also does. As far as pop tops / cans and those dreaded screw off alum. caps, part of the game if ya dont dig em, you'll lose a lot of finds. Anyway welcome and go do it to it     Detecting

Thank you for the advice, I find hunting is fun no matter what I find. I need to get a better digger to dig my finds out. I just use my hand in the sand. I know I miss a lot of stuff that slips through my fingers.

For a very cheap digger for sand, get yourself a sturdy cat litter box scoop. Sharp objects can damage your hands so be careful.
