I'm thinking that it is probably late 19th or early 20th century....There was a lot of interest in Classical Greece, Rome, and Egypt that was often reflected in jewelry, vases, etc during that time period--especially as the world was moving out of the Victorian age and starting to show a bit more "flesh" in artistic materials.

Copper was mined here in the USA back in Phoenician times so it could be really old.  Where did you find it?
