I found this brass key last week at an old school it's over a hundred years old, I'm not sure if this qualifies as
die cast but I thought it was a cool find, good indicator I'll be there tomorrow after work hopefully an old coin next.

Technically, I believe keys are stamped, not die cast. We'll see what the moderator does on this one.

Nice find, though. Good condition.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

GD,  I think you are correct in your assumption.
It does appear to be "stamped".
Cool find.
Seldom may be on the right track, it does appear to be a "Post office box Key".
If so it has such a simple cut in the blade it may have been a  "Master" key.

BTW GD: I believe there is no moderator on the "Die Cast" thread.
Maybe Christian has his doubts about input on this particular subject.
Could be it's still open for his discretion.

Actually, it could be a mailbox key or an OLD yale padlock key......Yes, it looks like the mailbox keys I used to use in college, but it also looks an awful lot like the keys that went to the old stock new in box Yale Padlocks that were in my Grandfather's garage.   Fortunately, I kept a few of those, so maybe I should go out to the storage unit and take a look.  (if it is a padlock key, it dates back to the 1930's/1940's).

And I agee, stamped--not die cast.
