Strange stone - Found on top of Mt. Fuji - Japan.

I found this stone on top of Mount Fuji during late summer of 2010.
I have searched the internet after the son mentioned but i can't find the person.
I noticed the stone because it was so different in structure and color, so i turned it over and there was the text, it has almost fell down in the crater, quite near the edge.
Any ideas?

I believe its a Death Stone, it's put there by who ever leaves the ashes of a dead relative etc.
they usually have a stone native to thier home area , etched / carved with an inscription and a date.
In this case the dad probably brought it or hired someone to deliver the ashes and the stone.
By the inscription i would think it was his sons wish to climb the mountain , so in bringing the ashes
there his dad was fullfilling his final wish.
these types of stones are left ontop of a lot of differnt mountains. sometimes surrounding the vessel encompassing the ashes, sometimes as u found this one left where the ashes were spread.

The only thing i took from the top of Mount Fuji was photos, i left the stone were it was from the beginning, i was quite exhausted due the climbing up the mountain, just wearing a windproof jacket, knee long cargo shorts, temperature was about 5C+ quite windy and really thin air, the climb including the brake strowling around the top took 7 hours from 5th station to the top and back.
Elevation, 3776.24 m (12389 ft).
I'll go for the memory stone exponation, but i'll keep my eyes open for the name out on the net. :)

Solved the mystery!
Found a match on the surnames, it's a guy placing out these stones wherever he travels in the wold for his now 3.5 year old son, he was thinking of giving his son clues were to find them when he gets older.
To bad this was in the open having a total different structure and color, because i found it quite easily.
But hey, i'm a Thunting member, hawk-eyes all over... ;)

Well now that's an awesome idea. I like that idea and i am sure his son will also. what a way to bond with his father by retracing his footsteps.
But there are memory stones also, i have seen a few in my younger days. In Colorado , I helped place one for a friend. even found a few in the alps in Germany. I think its a great last journey.
