Been doing some lab work on platinum ores. Came up with a way to assay platinum group minerals. Instead of cupeling the lead from the fire assay, dissolve it in nitric acid. Wash the contents in hot water to dissolve the lead nitrate. The dried residue will be Au, Pt, Rh, Ir, and Ru. The Pd will be in the nitric acid and can be ID later.
Grind is important, a fire assay test at passing 60 mesh and passing 200 mesh on fire assaying almost doubled the amount of pgm's in the assay on the passing the 200 mesh grind.

The same mesh test goes for very fine gold. Your assay increases with the grind. Coarser the grind the more the gold will go into the slag..... Just a thought on assaying........
