I'm new to prospecting, but thought I'd share some of my finds. This is the gold I have recovered from the Swank Claim in central Ohio, listed in the GPAA mining guide. Nothing real big, but it's Gold!

Homefire,

Can you Identify the pieces above the dime? They're not gold, but are heavier than the magnatite and black sands. Silver, Platinum, or other?

I think I it looks great! Congrats! I have been trying to decide whether to try the Swank claim wasn't sure it was good or not. Did you use a sluss?

Jeb_124,

Try the swank claim out. Most of this gold was pulled in with my Buckabilly sluice over three trips to the claim. Even if you come up with an empty pan, you'll meet a lot of really great people. Check out my post on 2010 Gold Rush Days. It's an event being put on this coming weekend by the GPAA Ohio Buckeye Chapter. It's supposed to be a big event. I'm going to be there, maybe I'll see you there.

Don't know what that is!

Hard to see in photo.

Cubical shape?

Some Pyrites form cubes like that.

Huh?Huh?

Homefire,

One is sort of cubical, another looks just like a gold picker but not gold, the others are cylindrical rodlike, they vary in color from silver-like to gray, metallic definitely but not magnetic. I thought about trying to crush, to see if they were brittle or mallable, but I don't have the heart.

 Great
Maybe next time. I am visiting a friend in New Mexico from Thurs - Monday. I wanted to go to it. Sounds like fun.
Thanks,
