Go Up Go Down

Last December, or so, I posted some photos of quarts crystals I had / have a lot of in a river here in Panama.  The photos pretty much sucked.  I have tryed to post better pictures but for some reason I can not [Huh?].  At any rate, the river in question is actually a feeder creek in a rather interesting cannyon up in the "Division Continental" at the base of a rather large black rock [1500 feet tall].  I spent most of a day dancing up the river and cannyon to the south base of said 'black rock' and I will say it was a very very interesting dance.  First of all, if the rock is basalt it is like none I have ever seen.  I managed to get a fist size sample, it's very heavy, none conductive and none magnetic, yet feels metalic...weird.  Secondly, about half way up the cannyon I came to a long streach of light green bedrock that was deeply slotted and grooved by water flow.  Some of the slots [?] were 6 to 8 feet deep and only a couple feet wide.  The layer of bed rock went up the cannyon walls a good 20 feet.  Thirdly, the green bedrock had boulders in bedded in it, with pockets of cloudy quarts.  Fourth,  I picked up samples of a lot of interest stones and will try to post pictures of them because I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I HAVE STUMBLED ON TO.  A little help would - well - help.  I will try to attach 1 photo and if it goes thru I will post the rest.

Thanks
'Z'

I'll post a larger picture in 15 - 20 minutes.  As for hardness....hard to say..scratch glass no problem, other than that, not sure.

I doubt they are diamond, just to many of them.....evertime you flip over a couple rocks they are there.  Everytime I try to pan I get black sand and a lot of crystals....no color yet.  As for the other rock samples [color not clear], most are very dark green, wrapped around or layered on quarts, and heavy.  Could that be copper.?.and like the crystals these small to medium size rocks are everywhere, along with rocks that look and feel like molten metal.  Also, not sure about the green bedrock, it's as though it 'flowed' over the other rocks in the cannyon.  Wish I knew what the hell I am doing / seeing.  I did find out that there was a couple gold/silver mines in the area, both on the high peaks.  One 3 miles away, as the crow flies [1962 topo map] and the other 5 miles, according to a 1898 newspaper article....so - gold is here somewhere, I would think.

What ever they are I'll say they have value.  What size are they?

Sapphire?

Corundums?

Diamonds odd forms?

Herkimer Diamonds (HARD QUARTZ)?

Keep going and good luck, Take some sample. So you can do testing later if needed.
Take care around old mining sites.
  Cool
