Hey all! Hope everyone is having a great new year so far. I live about 10 min. from a silica mine here in SoCal. There are some very nice quartz crystals there, some smokey, some rosey. And huge mounds of white and, in lesser amounts, black quartz rock. Is there more likely to be gold in these types of areas? Just trying to learn whatever I can. Thanks for any input.

What your talking about is from the DEAP!

Most likely from a Intrusive Up Lift.

Gold could be, but not likely.

Gold likes Quartz, Iron and other minerals but the Hard Crystals your talking about are not the type there going to be with them.

Don't hold me to that but that is the general rule.

Gold is were you find it.

If you can find Iron stained Quartz you have a better chance.

A old saying!   Gold Rides A Iron Hourse!

Look for Quatz stained with Red from Iron.

Between the Cracks could be GoLd.
