Here is another interesting finding, which I really treasure... This combination lock of the famous Russian master of the 19th century. This lock was found on an ancient settlement...

Nice find!

With 4 rings, there can only be 9999 possible combinations all stemming from 0000 and increasing by one each time. You can twiddle it while watching TV and work out the combination that way. Then, should you want to change it, the rings will slide off and allow you to position them into a number you can remember.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

I've opened locks like that before.

Just Pull on the Shaft while working the Last Ring.

When your on that Combo it will move a bit more inward.

Keep working until your done.

I opened the lock by method of selection combinations. The code word is ПИША... I do not know what it means  :Smiley

ya it means to write or record .. that's a very nice find  Cheesy .. was it found near an entrance to a library or priestly (scholastic) building?.. if so, it would have a very interesting link to its past?

It was found in the ruins of old settlement. It is possible that there could be a priestly building or library...

"PISHA" so the word is pronounced in Russian  Smiley
Сombination lock in the shape of the barrel with the stigma of "Kamaev" (surname of the master), Tula, the Russian Empire. 19th century AD. Tulas locks can be distinguished from all others in manufacturing technology. All of them - forged. In other Russian cities, basically they were going out of parts and fastened with rivets
