If you want to work the 1715 rleet you can sub-contract from the Mel Fisher Center. Call Taffi Fisher (Mel's daughter) at:
                                           Mel Fisher Center
                                           1322 U.S. One
                                            Sebastian, FL 32958
                                            (772) 589-0435
                                            FAX: (772) 589-0997

Here is a chart of the lease areas on the E. coast from Cape Canaveral to Ft. Lauderdale. The 1715 wrecks lease areas are shown as blue circles. As you can see, the whole E. coast is leased to someone.

The sub-contractors lease for the 1715 fleet wrecks costs $1,000 per year. You will be issued a "C" number that you have to cisplay on your boat. Then the Marine Patrol will not hassle you. The dive season usually starts around May and lasts until October. After that It gets too rough to work. Here is a pic of the boat I used to work the 1715 fleet.

Here I am getting ready to check out the hole we just blew. Notice how close we are to the beach.

No sir, that is the "Conquistador" parked at Sebastian River Marina. The picture below is the "Seahunter" parked at Blowing Rocks Marina in Jupiter. I worked on the Seahunter 2 years ago.

Beginning at 100% the state of Florida takes 20%. The remaining 80% is split between the Fisher Group and the subcontractor. Then the Feds get their cut in income tax when the treasure is converted into currency.

Here is a powerpoint presentation by John deBry. He did a few years back and it has some good information I thought some may find interesting. In the lower right hand corner click on slide show and enjoy, I do not like page 29 about distructive means by Treasure Hunters!
We all know without blowers alot of history would have never been found, it would still be buried beneath the sands of time, and isnt a hurricane just a big giant blower!!! : )
