If I was to move to another country Australia would be top of the list. If it wasnt for those pesky snakes that is.... Shocked

Snakes? All you have to do is grab them by the tail and give them a shake and a snap like a whip. It disorients them and they stagger off.

Hi

Thank you all for showing interest in this topic.

I will update this post when i come back in six weeks time.

As a note, i purchased 2 authentic dutch drawn maps, they are dated 1560 and 1630.

These maps will show something very interesting about Australia.

Regards

Look for books on the Dreamtime. That's the universal aboriginal story telling that relates to what Christians call the Old Testament. It's full of legend, folklore and myth. When they speak of the Dreamtime, it's always with reverence and respect. It's a time before modern aboriginals were on this earth. It's a time when the creation of the earth was done by the people of the Dreamtime. I have posted a book here, an eBook, on the Aboriginals of Western Australia. I had to put in into the downloads area because it's too big for an attachment. Full members may download it now.

Here is the link to the download:

The legends in the Dreamtime can often have real world parallels. Enjoy the book. About the snakes . . . I was just kidding. What really works on them is playing them two of Meatloaf's greatest hits albums. Puts them to sleep every time.

Hi everyone

I purchased two authentic maps, both are atlas's of time gone by.

With image " A " the whole drawn outline of Australia is shown - but inconclusive. 1500's

With image " B " the mapped outline of Australia is drawn from South Australia through to cape york. 1600's

With image " C " the mapped outline clearly shows that the Australian coast line was already mapped from south Australia to cape york then the NSW coast to port Phillip Bay. 1600's

Captain Cook should have researched a little better before he staked his claim back in 1770.

enjoy

regards

Interesting old maps.

As with many places the original discoverer is not always the one credited. Any ideas on who the data for the maps came from?

Thanks for sharing your finds! Smiley
