Hey Spring my water hunting and beach hunting is over till fall to many people plus the water is lower in the fall and winter so you can get into the 3 or 4th ditch. Start looking for some good waders or wetsuit.
Smokin may be hunting have not really talked to him since he found 8 horse shoes still on the horse's last week.
With the storm it might be worth hunting the water line.

I hope Alex has had as good an effect on the hunting there as it apparently did on the Mexican beaches.   I was at a GPAA meeting last night talking to a couple of my friends.  One mentioned that he had received a phone call from a buddy who was visiting the eastern Mexican costs.....The hotel management made everyone spend Wednesday the night in the hall.  When got up Thursday morning after the storm, most of the sand had been stripped off the beach and people were picking up coins left and right off the pebbles without metal detectors.

No its not that good but may be better then it was last week. There's a place on the east end that had a dozen beer bars in a line along the jetty in the 40's and 50's after Alica  there were pockets of coins dig out of the cracks. After Ike it was closed off for several months and by the time I got in there the sand had built back up. I went and looked at it yesterday don't look like much of the rocks are exposed I am going tonight let you know tomorrow. Think Padre is the place to be but I am to busy to head there right now.

Well I just got a water machine and look forward to learning the ways of beach hunting. Looking forward to some low tides to see what can be found. Hopefully no horse shoes!

Just notice the second page of posts!!

It took me a minute to catch on to the horse shoes!! LOL I am tired

I hope to get a water machine before this winter. Maybe sooner if this heat keeps driving me to want to hunt somewhere a little cooler. Maybe I should get it now so I will at least have an idea how to use it by the time the hunting gets better.

I have to get some kinda head light for the night hunts. I found it very hard to hold the E-trac a scoop and a light. Any suggestions on a good one?

STD I will let you know next time we head down there. I will check the tide charts and try to time on a low. I good stiff day or two of north wind wouldn't hurt either
Looks like 6 miles of the west end will be no good for hunting this winter.

Beeton said the delay would assure that houses would be built too close to the beach after the rebuilding of 6 miles of beaches on the west end of the island is completed. The beach project is scheduled to begin in October.

I discovered 2 things along the Blue Water Highway last week.

1) About halfway between Surfside, and San Luis, While getting  ready to detect, my wife foud a 100.00 bill just sitting there, on the beach

2) Something that lasts a little longer that I'd never heard of: Sun Poisoning , it makes poison ivy look like a walk in the park

Sun poisoning doesn't really mean you've been poisoned. It is often the term used for a severe case of sunburn. This is a burn from ultraviolet (UV) radiation that inflames your skin. It is a lot more common then folks think in fact a friend that works at UTMB says they get 15 to 20 cases a week end during the summer here its just call it 2 degree sunburn most of the time.

But it sure as hell can make you feel like........   Had a case of it in Spain once where even wet sheets were uncomfortable (but that's the only way I could sleep).

Common sense, folks, common sense (though we all seem to fall short of it occassionally)
