Interested using the vast amount of historical information available now through the internet and things like geo location devices to really discover some history in my area, any advice on how best to utilize these tools to best effect. I also would be interested in knowing if your area determines the digging tools and other accessories you should take with you on a hunt...  Thanks in advance for your replies!  Beer Chug

Well there is a tool for every job out there.

Internet is Good to find information but you have to take some of it with grain of salt.

Best start for your history would be the local Library.

Oh yeah, I plan to do that also we have a very good record of some areas but others are probably a little more mysterious, any tips on how to gain access to these areas once I find a target, I know it can be dicey and some people may not see the benefit of digging up their property ( I follow the mantra of leave it better than you found it ) by the way , do you usually make a deal with them on what you find, say you keep the coinage and they can have artifacts or personal items something like that? Thanks for the replies!
