I e-mailed Bill the owner of the Gold-n-Detectors shop in Golden, Colorado about my find of one of his tokens and below is his response to my e-mail

Good Afternoon Roberto,

The token you found was not there by accident. Two of my regulars, Gary and Ada, have relatives who live in the Chicago area. Whenever Gary and Ada go back to visit, they always take their detectors and 20-25 of our tokens. They have done pretty well detecting the Chicago school yards and parks. When they probe up a good target, they leave a token in its place. They also hunt small parks between Golden and Chicago so not all the tokens reach Chicago.[/color]
Thank you for writing about your find. I'll copy Gary an Ada to let them know as well. They enjoy hearing about someone finding a token where a silver coin once was.

That's a neat follow-up. Certainly not the response I expected, but cool that they leave one where they found a goodie. Sue

Yeah, Sue I know. I was not expecting it either. But whoever planted the token left behind some other goodies for me. Right next to it I found a wheatie and two steps farther I found the nice SS four-way cross I showed earlier.

Seldom thank you for the buddy request. I accepted, but I guess it must be approved or something. I don't really know how adding or accepting buddies work. I tried the Help area, but I don't remember to have seen about buddies. I get a blank screen every time I try to add someone.

When someone asks you to be there buddy, the way to accept is to go to their profile page, upper left corner just above the word "Name," you accept as a buddy.

Yes, I figured it out. Now how do I make a request for a buddy. I have tried by filling out the add buddy with the username of a possible buddy, but all I get is a blank screen upon hitting enter.

Click on my profile. At the top, just above the word "Name" you will see the spot to click to make a request for a buddy.

Just so you know, at the moment there is no real benefit to having buddies except that their posts are a pastel green rather than white. I don't believe that the buddy feature has been fully implemented. The buddy manager, for example, doesn't work properly as you found out.
