The pen thing looks like a Cross brand mechanical pencil from around the 1930s or 1940s. The wire could be an ancient find so wait for the experts to show up.

At one time the Cross pen would have been gold plated with lines engraved longitudinally around the pen from the area just behind the tip to the top, which twisted. Look for gold flecks. Normally, the metal corrodes at a specific rate flaking off the gold plating as it does. The more gold plating, the more recent the manufacture.
