Go Up Go Down

Stopped by a long vacant lot yesterday and started digging around a old house site. Came up with this brass cat which was probably buried by a child. Some of my most interesting finds have been things lost by or buried by children. The 1933 Worlds Fair lucky penny comes to mind. Also the WWI tin soldier, a 45 cal replica bb pistol, spoons and loads of matchbox cars. gambol Smiley

These do not include the items I have found in and around playgrounds such as a silver chain, pendant and ring(s).

Great find there! I was digging in a park last summer when about 4" down I hit on parts of a toy gun (pistol) probably part of a cowboy set. It was in real bad shape, so I just tossed it into the trash. Still, yes it was fun digging it up.

zul32, I've got 2 50's something cap pistols I've dug at different times. They were both in bad shape. buried pot metal goes quickly. I also dug up a hard rubber pistol. I looked at it for a while and then I remember getting some cheap toys for Christmas back in the early 50s that were made of hard cast rubber. I believe they came from Japan's burgeoning toy industry just after WWII.  Wise

That's pretty cool! Ater watching so many of the American Pickers episodes on TV, I'm slowly starting to learn about the evolution of the toys and the materials they were made of!
