Not sure where you are located but several places along the gulf there is manganese deposits a few inch down that will turn all coins silver and clad red. Is there any manganese in your area, if not I am going though my note about the coin from west Texas that were red.

question guys should i clean up the bayonnette  it will clean up ok i think and i dont think its worth any thing  but no handle   i guess i could make one for it .  i know the guy we bought our house from was a WW2 VET but i dont think its been in the ground quite that long  i found it close to a tree i would say some one was throwing it at breaking the handle or it wasn't there when it was lost  no handle material in the hole . i hit it as a target and thought i had more aluminum boy was i dissapointed  the bolster is brass i think and give a higher tone

What No Aluminum ?? Cry How sad, anyways if u can clean it for display and ur sure it will hold up to the cleaning then I say yeah go for it!!  Cheesy  Grin
