Yesterday was a very windy and dusty day, but that never stops us. After about 5 hours it was time to leave.  Here is what the dirt gave to me.

1. carved spur rowel
2. a few bullets .69 .58 minie , .52 sharps and a .37 caliber and some round balls
3. a few buttons, a J-hook and some buckles
4. a hole bunch of tent grommets
5. a few other things

Go Up Go Down

i love your latest finds.  i have been researching Johnston's Army in the Utah war of 1857, trying to find out areas where they camped up by echo canyon.  there's a lot of places to look, however almost all of it is on private land.  your finds are the exact type that i am interested in.  did you go down where Camp Floyd used to be?  also i would love to tag along on one of your metal detecting excursions.  i am very new to the hobby of metal detecting, but i am having a challenging time learning on my own.  if i could link up with you sometime around here, I'd be very very appreciative.  also, there is an awesome book that i just bought from the gift shop in the military museum at fort Douglas called "In Search of Johnston's Army."  just flipping through the pages is impressive.  this gentleman who wrote the book is named Duane Bylund, and he has searched out these histories of past army's and the old military camps.  he has documented and photographed his finds in a very impressive manner.  i strongly suggest checking this book out for anyone living in Utah, that is interested in the local history.
