Go Up Go Down

Found my first horse shoe this week. I'm waiting for the good luck to follow now. Also found lots of junk and some clad. Oldest coin a 1901 indian head second oldest 1930 buffalo nickel. Here is some of it. The Lucky Penny was posted previously. I gave it a spray of gold paint and now it looks a little better. The shiny thing was laying on the ground next to my truck when I pulled up at the hunting ground. Don't know what it is or how it got there. The car keys came out of a safe that was cracked and dumped in the woods. I looked around to see if there was any evidence of whose safe it was but found nothing but an empty change purse and the bolts that held the door on.gambol Cool

Hey, Gambol1, congratulations on the horseshoe.    I keep forgetting how deprived you guys back east are...you've got to settle for stuff like pre-Civil War coins and coins washed up from Spanish galleons while those of us fortunate enough to live in the west get all the horse shoes, mule shoes, and oxen shoes (yeah I've found all 3) not to mention all the railroad spikes ranging in size from the great big mega-spikes down to the little bitty mine track spike.

gambol,

Nice finds.

Remember when you mount the horse shoe, the ends must aim up to retain the luck. If the ends are down the luck runs out.   Lips Sealed

Go Up Go Down

bitburg, This is Florida. The part I live in was pretty scarcely populated until the 1950s. I know old stuff is in the ground but I don't find much of it unless I go to some special sites that I know were occupied before that. Actually this could be a modern shoe. One that came out of a keg. as for coins. The same is true. I get excited when I find something that is in the 1900s. Oldest coin I've found is 1901. As for spanish pieces of eight and such, They are there and I keep looking. The DeSoto Trail crosses the property I hunt. I got my interest when I was a boy and spanish coins and armor was dug up in a strawberry field in Dover which is not far from here.  That was 1954-55? People came from all over the country and were camped out around the field. I saw some of the coins at the strawberry festival the next year.  gambol
