Go Up Go Down

Last night, I focused my attention on an area that I had previously hunted and found lots of clad. This time, armed with a bit more learnin' and less discrimination. It paid off. I scored my first Merc and a 1919 to boot. How freakin exciting. I also scored a buck or so in clad. I also found a complete unknown. After I clean it tonight, I'll post it. If it is what I think it is, it's another first.

It looks like a nice coin and the photo size is good.   Now we just have to teach you how to get sharper images.    Are you using the macro setting on your camera (that's usually represented by a flower/tulip symbol)?   If not, use that it helps a lot.   If you are, then think about getting a tripod (you can pick them up for under $12 and they make a big difference).

Congratulations on the merc.  Silver is always good---first silver is even better.   Smiley

I have a little tripod, just didn't use it on this shot. I don't see a macro setting on this camera, I've looked and even went though the menu. If I can find the book on it, perhaps that would do it. This isn't that cheap of a camera, you'd think it would have Macro function. Thanks for the input and congrats. I get so excited when I get silver.

PM me the details on your camera (make and model) and I may be able to find and send you the answers.    I've been getting lots of practice taking pictures of member finds for my local club.

(Another option that works is to use a flat bed scanner if you have one)

if you dont have a macro lens, you can use a magnifying glass in between the camera and the object to change the focus point. it takes a bit of practice to hold both in focus but it works great. You can use a bright light to side light the object and bring out more of the detail of the object.
