She's 8. Her younger sister was holding the scoop and sieve. And kind of helping for about 2 minutes. Enough of that, back to grandma.

How lovely! Maybe her younger sister wanted an MD too! Grandpa, two MDs for the girls it is.  Wink

Pull tabs are often the first proof you have that a metal detector actually works when you first start.    Now that you've been swinging for a while, don't be too quick to dismiss them, though.   After all you can still recycle them (a pound of aluminum is a pound of aluminum no matter what form they take)...plus they can also help you date a site based on the type and style of tab.

A pull tab is also a clear indication that somebody (or many of them) spent some time there. People don't just drop them from their pockets. They relax and lounge there so everywhere you find a pull tab or bottle top is cause for celebration. If they dropped a pull tab, hopefully they dropped some other things.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Nice! That's another way I use to date a place, the type of pulltabs.  Wink
