Found yesterday in the back yard of my 1850s farm house. Just under the surface, no more than 2" deep. Made one huge "bang" sound when found.

I think it may be an elephant's wedding ring. Not sure. Actually, I believe it may be part of a wagon draw bar. Fairly large - 3/4" diameter ring, 6" across. A deck of cards is on the rock along with a ruler to give you an idea of size.

Wow, that's big. what is it made of?

I found this 3.6" diameter 5oz. brass saddle cinch or harness ring at an old abandoned farmstead in Davie Fl recently.

It's steel. Yours is a nice find, too. This one is too big to be a cinch ring.

Thanks, mate. It wasn't hard to find. I'm surprised the grass was able to grow over it. And how exactly does one "lose" something that big?

Grey Rider is right, it's a yoke. One of my first finds on my property. I have an old farm and find them quite a bit.
