Go Up Go Down

Hello every body, not bean around much lately as I have bean very busy with work and just come back from holiday so detecting has hasd a break Thumbs Down But I do have something to show you from my last outing, although not complete it falls under the 1996 treasure act and it had to be declared to my local museum.
The object is made of Silver, triangular in shape and as I said incomplete(damaged) it depicts Medieval script on two sides, and carved animals on the outher. What the object is I can only guess Idea perhaps part of a spoon. The museum showed perticular interest in it especially the Britsh Museum.

The remaining inscription along one side appears to read “ARENVS REX”. When complete this would probably have read IESVS NAZARENVS REX IVDEORVM (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews) which appears frequently on medieval rings and brooches and was used for its amuletic power. This suggests that the object dates to the 13th or 14th century.

Anyway have a look at the pictures..  Great Great

Thanks for the comments, what amazes me about this find is the skill involved on the carving, on such a small piece of Silver Shocked it's only 4mm wide.

wow.  what a find.  something that much closer in time to Jesus Christ.  When people had more faith and trust in him.  We would have a better world if that were still the case.  Awesome treasure.

STELLAR! Good job. The craftsmanship is amazing considering the "tool" they might have possibly used.
