hi all went out hunting with a friend. nice day in the low 80's nice breeze well i got a reading on the detector and dug up a nice 14kt gold necklace 20 inch whew what a find. also found a few clad coins but that was the day. took necklace to a    jewelry shop and was oftered 400 dollars .  ? should i sell it or wait for better gold price. sorry no picture have to learn how. thanks for reading

Congratulations= my first good gold find was just about the same as you have there, mine was about 15-18 yr ago- still got it, and wear it from time to time, will probly be a wearing it when they spade me in Wise

Figuring around $1200.00/troy oz and 27 grams $400.00-$500.00 is about right I would check other places though. Keep in mind none of the dealers are going to give you actual spot price, because they have to pay fees to have it melted down & such, and they want to make money themselves. You could save it, and wait for spot price to go up, also the more weight you have, the better price you will probably get, so keep fishing for more. Foiled Again

Most buyers pay around 80% of spot from what I understand. See if you can find a local jeweler  who is buying scrap to recast and you might get 90 to 95 percent. That's who I deal with and he buys stones at a fair price. Plus if he is going to just polish and resale as is he pays more then spot he is pretty honest that way
