Go Up Go Down

I got permission to go to one of my patients family farm over 250 years old. been in the family for years. Saw the deed and got to rummage the house and barns since her 96 year old mother passed. I found some great antiques and been MD there 3 times. Found lots of aluminum and bottle caps at first. Turned up the sensitivity and hit lots of odd items. No coins! but spoons and scrap all in silver and copper range. Found a couple of old Italian coins in the floor boards of the kitchen. Had to look around the old clothes lines and walkways as well as surrounding porch and back gardens. Lots of trash and aluminum siding bits from renovations. The basement was laid in with concrete 20 years ago with the new heating system so that was a bummer!
I did find an old metal detector in the barn a radio shack junker and wonder if the old man had something buried to keep from the wife or bank? There is chicken coops and pump house as well as 2 or three gardens and a old cesspool access. about 2 acres and I scoured all areas lightly.
Any ideas would be appreciated...
Pics soon I promise.

Good for you!!! I would love to visit my grandparents old farm.  They sold it 30 years ago and it's now a bed and breakfast in New Jersey.  Hmmm... I heard people back in the day did not use banks that much, and if they were to hide their money, it would be in a spot where they maybe a large animal kept, Bull pen, pig pen, chicken coupe... Or look for a large tree.  This sounds so interesting... Keep up posted.

Good luck to you!!!

SharenH

checked out all trees on property. Chicken coop was a mess years of garbage on floor. Maybe I should check it out. All areas and buildings were grided except fields and gardens.
ps i live in NJ  south of Atlantic City real south! and love the history as well as the storm that just busted out the shoreline in OC. But I cannot hit he low tides due to the kids daycare and work.
