I had about an hour to blow today, and as per usual, the MXT was in the shag'n wag'n..
I headed to an abandoned parking lot, formerly a Sears store.
This parking lot had an entrance which came off of downward slope from a drawbridge.
This provided a closed off road with a gentle slope in an area known to draw crowds for river festivals and the like.
The fact that the road had been closed for 20 years or so meanth that the curbs had about 3-4" of soil buildup in some parts, and the slope was a natural path for rain and snowmelt runoff.
So, I spent an hour working the dirt piles in the curb section on the old road surface.
I was lucky as the road surface was not "hot", nor was it reinforced, which made ground balancing easy.
I jacked the discrimination down to about 2-3, and ran 5 in the sensitivity in Relic Mode with the small 5.3" concentric coil.
I did this as I would be looking at no more than 5" maximum depth due to the road surface, and the coil choice allowed me to get closer to the curb and helped with the trash.
All in all, it was an average take in clad for less than 30 minutes actual detecting time, and I will be looking at this spot and others in the future.
Cheers,
Spooky.
