The guy who puts on the jar of musket ball contests should be able to take us all out fishing for an official THunting member's fishing trip.

Maybe the next contest can be to guess how many more balls can be made from the shavings acquired while drilling a hole in each of his current musket balls while making them into fishing weights for our yearly fishing trip?

The winner can get one of those fancy arse GPX-5000 detectors.  I can volunteer to drill the holes and make the balls/ weights.

I bid one big arse cannon ball will be obtained from the drill shavings that I will obtain from the contest guy's musket ball conversion.

  Lets make this happen!   Cool

Strange coincidence - I picked up the new copy of Western Eastern Treasures today and there is an article about a guy who found several carved bullets. Apparently, bored soldiers would spend idle time carving bullets into game pieces, figures, jewelry, and.... you guessed it... fishing weights!  Smiley

   I KNEW IT!!!!

I did find a musket ball!!!!!

BTW, are you a Texas A+M fan

cut me and I bleed maroon--cut me deep enough and I'll turn white.   (and yes, I'm still celebrating the Texas A&M Women's Basketball NCAA Tournament championship.  Those ladies did a fantastic job of representing OUR mutual school---even if I am divided by time and distance from them).

As to whether a copper member should know who Christian is, it isn't a requirement but a whole lot of them do..... Don't worry, though, whether you know that or not, because most of the time neither he or anyone else mentions it.  But if you ever want to thank some one for this free forum, he's the one to start with.

Your girls had better watch out Aggie fan because LSU just bought themselves a few more women's b-ball championships starting in three years.  We got a great looking up and coming coach who played under Pat Summit and coached later under her and others.  It looks like we have gotten over the hump (pun intended) of our coaching scandal from a few years back.

They made her an offer she could not refuse... $800,000 U.S. + perks

Oh yeah, you might not believe me but all of the LSU fans gave your FB team props after last season's Cotton Bowl.  Your guys had the best season in decades if I might be so bold but the Tigers had underachieved all year and should have been in a BCS Bowl but could not overcome poor QB play and bad luck in our last game against Arky.  We had been waiting for them to get their offensive act together all year and they finally looked good after getting a month to prepare.

My fellow Tiger fans and I were all very happy to go to the Cotton even though we had our eye on bigger prizes before the Au game.  We will be opening up next season in that stadium and were happy to get our guys comfortable playing there against a very hot and quality opponent in the national spotlight.  They should be more comfortable when they open up next season against the quakers.  I am not sure how I feel about the game because they started so slow and did not play to potential until the end of the season.  Opening up against those quick arse little Pac'ers might be a tall order.  The last thing that I want to do is give the West Coasties a victory over an SEC team to hang their hats on.  They seem to never let us forget losses like that and ride them for all they are worth.

A+M played very tough and should be given great props for putting together multiple victories against some of the nations top programs.  Heck, it looks like my Tigers are going up against your Aggies for every other recruit already for next year's class.  Neither of us can have them all so I am sure that FB will be fun for us both for quite a while.

I am a member of TigerBait.com and like to get the scoop from time to time.  Thanks for the heads up on Christian because even though I had heard his name before I did not know that this is his site.

BTW, I have an insatiable tendency to be a little long winded.

Are you talking about the one on the right or left?  I know that you said ball so I guess that you mean the one on the right?  I can take a measurement and what not.  I am pretty curious even though it is not worth anything.  It's hole was filled with dirt so I did not know it had that hole until I started checking it out at home that night.

There was some Civil War activity along the Bayou Teche in that area.
