Go Up Go Down

Ok so not anything of any value except experience. Today was my first hunt ever. Couple things I learned today.

1) This is not easy on the old legs! My legs are still shaking from being weak! BUT, no pain no gain so It must be good for me!

2) I need to really work on my hole digging. I used a hunting knife, but never seemed to go deep enough on first cut. That is where it got messy for me, digging out deeper, but with a little work I was able to cover the hole to look decent, but I want to improve.

3) I really can see now where to invest in a pinpointing probe will be beneficial. It's just hard to pin point your target with out one. So if anyone knows of a good cheap one let me know..cheapest I have found is 135.00?

So here is a look at my bounty today, like I said nothing of value except experience today! It was fun!

LOL I really don't know, think one is an old radiator cap but not sure. The smashed one looks like a rim of old can, the other one has wire coming from it, have no idea what it is.

Mona, the tip Bomber gave on the Harbor Freight pin pointer is a good one.  They don't carry it instore, so you will have to order it on-line.   And while a pinpointer is nice, you'll still want to practice your pinpointing with just the metal detector.   It's easier to do if you have an open coil design instead of a solid coil, but can be done either way.   Making an x with the detector over the target and then digging at the point where you have the strongest signal both N-S and E-W works (although some people add a vertical element as an additional check)....but congratulations on the first finds--even if you think they are junk.

Practice, practice, practice----but always have fun.

BA

I found this one on sale for 89.00 AUTOMAX PRECISION V4 PINPOINTER with great reviews, the bulleye did not have good reviews, seems there is a switch problem with them so I went with the Auotmax, on its way!

Thanks BA, hooked me up on how top in point with detector! Love this site, loads of good info!

i grew up in the Philippines where general Yamashita was captured in ww2. it is believed that part of the Yamashita treasure was buried there. the treasure could be from 20 metric tons to more than 200 metric tons depending on the site. some scalawag Japanese officers during that time sneaked some of their personal stash and buried it in a hurried fashion. these are the gold bars (10 to 15 bars or a pot of uncut gems) that was accidentally found by the locals in the area. i heard of similar stories since was a young boy and know some of the people personally... now i am living in the UK i dream of one day to return join those treasure hunters in the arean to find the gold... i know some sites.

You can compare up to 3 pinpointers among other things at the same time and see what you do or do not like.

Thanks Johnnn for the positive input! I have a pinpointer on the way now, went with the  AUTOMAX PRECISION V4 PINPOINTER , I think it will come in handy, twice today I never could find my target. So I think the pin pointer will be a big help!
