just to give you an idea of the kind of diffrent scrap metal that is to be found on the fields here, consisting of copper led zink and aluminium, this was found yesterday ca 6hours hunting,so its not all gold and silver that I find, all of this metal scrap goes into the metal recycling container, the second picture is an aluminium box lid of some kind with a nice art deco floral pattern, pitty about the condition, most of the copper is schrapnell,so I like to think that Im doing a bit for the environment by recycling my junk, thanks mike

well its the junk you collect as you detect,it all goes in my pouch, coins relics go in the zip closed pocket, that aluminium box lid thing,is a camera film box lid, from eugen reicka in Dresden,ca 1910-15,noticed the name on the side of the lid after I gave it a good scrub with wire wool,I allways collect the junk as I go,dont want to be digging it up again next year when I go back to the fields, the same in the park clean out the junk,It makes detecting easy next time, and brings up the deeper finds,,,,,and I do my bit to keep our parks and fields free from unwanted metal junk...mikek

Well said Mike,If I find junk I take it home and recycle it.
Even junk is a reward.I found a sharp piece of steel can in a park,
could have cut someones foot, now it's in my recycling bin.

I do the same, if I'm lucky, there is a trash barrel somewheres nearby to dump the junk. I even had a soccer mom look at some of the trash I dug at a tot lot, and she Thanked me! What a pleasant surprise!
Another reward from this wonderful hobby! Smiley

there was no civil war here,Im not in the US,so to me the musket balls are just scrap led,you find 1000ends here, and they are of no real value, except for there led weight,

I'm big on recycling, so all the aluminum and steel I dig up goes into the recycling bins at home.  Lots of the parks that I detect at also have special trash cans just for recyclable items.  I never leave trash targets in the ground, because it's just wrong, and because I don't want to waste my time digging up the same item again next year!  Even if I don't find as much treasure as I'd like, at least I'm hoping for good Karma! Wink
