I was back at an older site, I have detected the site before. I have found a couple coins before but not like this one. The house must have burnt down, the 1872 Canadian fifty cent peace is a lkittle black, the coin is in a nice condition other than that. HH

Cool Stuff.

You may want to try the Aluminum Foil/Baking Soda trick on that one.

I don't think so though  Huh? I think what you are seeing is a silver patina, easily removed with baking soda and aluminum or by rubbing it with a baking soda paste. Check the potential value of the coin before doing anything really bad.  Shocked Many collectors like to leave the dark gray patina on their old silver coins.

The coin starts at $40.00. The detail on the coin is nice, a little black, maybe around $300.00.  Detecting

Thanks so much on the info on my coin, I think it is between Ef - Vf, I have had it in olive oil for a couple days, the black has lightened some. Thanks again.
