Go Up Go Down

Did a little research on this and found out that it was manufactured by a company named "C.A.V." C.A.Vandervell & Co. The company was very old and then became "Bosche" They made magnetos, car batteries, and other electrical automobile components. They were also recruited by the military to make munitions during the war. They were a very reputable company back in the day.

So, now is where I need help!!! The "Thing" I found looks to be complete. It has the company info stamped on the little plague.  The peice is about 7in. tall and 21/2in. wide at the widest point. It has a ring type base and a tension style flap at the top. with what looks to be a side retainer holder in the middle.

My only guess with the companies history, is that this was some kind of giant fuse holder. It looks like it would hold the kind of fuse you would find in an old VW Bug....but HUGE!!!!

Anybody got a clue? would love to hear it for sure!!!!

I LOVE THIS HOBBY!! Especially for these mysteries.

It is definitely not a fuse holder as the fuse would be shorted but could it not be a thermometer holder or an hour glass holder ?

Regards Xavier

Maybe some sort of sight glass holder, or back plate for a hydrometer?

Cheers-

Chris

C.A.V. also built diesel injection pumps and fuel filter housings for Perkins and Ford tractors and machinery, You might go that direction. Good Luck
