Knights Templar on the top and reads Hoc Signo Vinces on bottom. I think its from the 1800s not much information on this plate, might be brass. Found in one foot of water this weekend.  What a great find. My oldest yet!

Just out of curiousity, why do you say 1800's as opposed to early 1900's?   And what part of the 1800's are you talking about?  Only asking because the design looks very much like ones I've seen that are dated early 1900's?

Regardless, I think it is a really neat find and I congratulate you on digging it up.

My best guess is the 1800 maybe early 1900. Saw photo of one later 1900s looks very different. Like i sad i dont have much history to go by. If you have more information on this type of find please tell me where to find it. I would like to know more about this find. Can you tell me where you found other photos or maybe the person who ownes one. Idea

     I'm not really knowledgeable myself.  My grandfather was a Mason, but he was in the Scottish Rite and not the York Rite and I never had a desire to join myself.   I did send you a pm with some examples I found on the net---mostly on e-bay.  One of them puts the buckle in the 1893 to 1923 range which "feels" right.   You might be able to get more information by contacting one of those posters.
     I would appreciate it you could post the answer back here when you find out.  I'm sure there are lot's of members who would like to know (just might come in handy someday).
