Fisher F5, Compass Magnum 420
« on: December 14, 2010, 02:52:13 pm »
Go Up Go Down

I've only had my new Fisher F5 a few days, and the ground has been fairly frozen (not to mention the air), so I have only ventured out a handful of times for some short hunts in my backyard. I'm guessing experienced "hunters" would not get excited over what I have found, but I feel like kid with a new puppy. I've dug up a 1980 quarter, a 1968 "D" &  1983 pennies and a 1999 dime. Plus I find it ironic that I also found a shiny 1997 dime in the parking lot of Waffle House when I went for breakfast this morning. I threw that into the mix for good measure. :-)

Although my finds are probably not any more valuable than their face value, I know it is a sign of things to come as I expand my search areas and become more proficient with the F5. And on high note, the detector has already begun to pay for itself. What other hobbiest can make that claim?

The picture quality is not that great, so I tweaked the brightness and contrast to make them easier to view. I suppose I have to play with my camera a bit also for better picture quality.

Happy Hunting to all... Skip

One of my favorite places to hunt is residential yards/lawns.
Find some of those older houses and you will likely find some
of the older goodies as well.
Keep us posted on your F5.Like to here about the pros and cons
of this machine.

I have started to get a better feel for the F5. I can't tell you how many times I have read the manual and watched videos that I found on the Internet. With that said, although I have also dug up a bunch of "junk" metal, every coin was identified by type and the depth measurement was real close with each coin also. Needless to say I am extremely pleased with it to date and all of the raving reviews I have read I have to agree with.
