$1.78 in change. Thing is it was a park my wife and I had gone through when we first got the metal detectors. Majority of the coins had probably been there the first time. About 50 cents looked new. Think I'm getting better at it. I bought one of those  centech pin pointers last week end and it really does help.

not bad, paid for a battery or 2. Try hitting the area between the sidewalk and the curb in the oldest part of your town. That is a great place to find old coins, especially stuck edge  wise against the curb where other detectorists dont look so much. You'll get some silver that way. That is public property, a "right of way" but if someone complains about you doing "theirs" just move on. As always, cover your holes well!

Only problem right now hitting grassy areas is the heat/drought. With the gumbo in the area its rock hard ground. And I would hate to take a chance killing off any grass still hanging around. That being said I did do a very quick run on one like that today, by what used to be a store that had been around since the late 50's now it's a party hall. Hoping some one dropped some jewelry.  But only a surface scan. (Only targets that showed a couple inches and showed close to the surface with the pin pointer.) Also it's way too hot except in the morning. I'll probably try it again tomorrow morning going a little slower.

From the land of the Bluenose.....glad you and the wife are getting out.  Can't get my wife to dig but will swish but I still have to use the sieve to get the target.  Take care and happy hunting.
