The weather was great today so I decided to visit one of the colonial sites I've hunted for a number of years. There's not much left there but every now and then I find something good in the fields right after the crops are harvested........I hunted for about an hour and found a spanish cob coin, it's always a blast to uncover one and it definitly will put a smile on your face... Photos below of items found..

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

nice finds. never know what will be found in a field.
when i lived up north in long island new york i remember someone searching a plowed field found an extremely rare new england sixpence. i believe it auctioned over 75,000.00
you just never know. that is what is so great about metal detecting. congratulations on your finds. Great

Thanks.........I don't know exactly what it is other than a spanish cob....I have about 6 or 7 of the cobs.  The buckle looks like something that may have been on a shoe..

Hi John ... Mike , here in NJ   I agree  . Early 1700's shoe buckle . The more I look at it ,  possibly older , late 1600's .  Cool You are in a great historical area . Some of my friends down in Va. have to dig through layers of Civil War relics to get to the colonial stuff . Lucky dogs . Six cobs are awesome ,  Great   and yours looks like a two reales .   How many milled reales have you found ?  Pillar dollar bits or pistereen bits ?    Thanks for your return reply .  CMD
