I decided to pick up the junk I've been digging this week. The place was getting so junked up it was getting in the way. Nothing special here except a bunch of RR spikes. gambol

Nice finds there, something is better than nothing, start a scrap shoe box, thats what i did, one for brass, and one for iron trash. When i go to the scrap yard with my soda cans (and beer cans) i cash it all in. It adds up after a while. Just a suggestion, happy huntin.....DW

The star shaped thing on the right with the threaded center hole looks like a pressure plate for a tank mine, but i can be totally wrong as well...

Niobium, Yes we were speculating what this is. It is a very heavy cast part. I think zinc. the outter edges appear to be worn down like it was part of a mixer of some kind but being of zinc I doubt that. My Co-detector pal who actually found it said he thought it was part of a washing machine. I have no clue. gambol

That star shaped thing is the front end of a hand meat grinder. Different star shapes yield different fineness of the meat. See the attached photo for the real thing. A more modern machine faceplate will have different shaped mincer attachments. Yours is from an antique like the photo.

Nice finds gambol1, however, if you keep finding quantities like that,
you will need something a little bigger than a shoe box to save your scrap.
I wish my son was still working in the grocery business, I could use some plastic milk crates.
Maybe he still has contacts that can get me a few, I know, I"ll bribe his GF with a nice ring to help me.
