Hi E W,
As long as I find stuff I will post the results, and like you I enjoy watching over others finds, not as good as actually being there but "almost" HH  Johnnn
It is neat seeing everyones finds and your right, it is better to be out on the hunt yourself. I wish I had more time than I do, my next day out will be this comeing tuesday and hopefully it will be a good day. I like to get up just before the sun and Im hitting the ground soon as I can see it. " I have a question for you,' how do you find so many cannonballs, Im not familiar about your area, was it a battlefield area?"        "Thanks for your replys and hope to hear from you soon!" Wink

Hi E W ,
This area was a hotly contested area during the war of 1812 U S vs Canada/Britain,
and although well documented stuff turns up when you least expect it.
For instance we know there are thousands of unaccounted burials no one knows where all these soldiers were interred their remains often turn up when building work starts..............HH...Johnnn

Thanks Johnnn, I havent read much on the history of a war in Canada during the war of 1812, " I know they say is was a War nobody won!" Im going to look into that and thats neat You found an area with that history in the ground! Keep posting those finds from the past, Its interesting to see what you have dug every time. I'm always hopeing when I detect out in wooded areas I could get lucky and find something in a area that was not documented of some scirmish or camp! Thanks for the info, I will look into that!

Hi E W,
There are according to my reading of accounts, up to 80 miles inland from the battle sites the Americans had many marshalling sites and camps for training of soldiers, I don't know how far you are away from the Canadian border, a little research might put you close to one of these locations check it out.
We are going out again on Sat for the last time till fall to one of our 1812 sites
once it gets too warm and the bugs start to eat you we stop for the season, but I will post anything we find, after that I do have two old house to look over.
HH.........Johnnn

Yeah Johnnn, I wish I could go that far, Im on the bottom half of southern Indiana. It would take me over 10 hours to get somewhere like that. I have been to Canada once in my lifetime with my mother and stepfather and brother, I was in my teens then! We just crossed the border to the first store we seen and left, just so we could say weve been to Canada Grin> We actually went that far because I had two step sisters in Michigan,"Marquette and Ishperming. We also went to Mackinaw Island, real pretty place and exspencive to. " If I was single I could go detect a lot farther than what I do, but thats not the case, I dont think my wife understands yet about research and going to locations. Maybe if I dug the big one around here! Great
