Go Up Go Down

went in to my back yard today to do some Detecting to cure some boredom.  found a really nice silver spoon, two dimes, and other misc. junk metal.  Anyone know of a good way to get rid of the ugly brown petina on old silver?

Nice finds , Backyards are always surprising. Chk out the Downloads section or the Search engine I am pretty sure this subject has been covered before.

Finger rubbing  a 1917 Mercury dime with a Baking Soda paste I prepared worked well for me (see my post under cleaning methods and pic below). However, you need to make sure your spoon is silver and not other material before trying any method. If it is not silver, even baking soda has the potential to ruin your find. There are kits to test for precious metals. You may like to try that first. Good luck and nice find  Great

Nice spoon  Smiley

I saw this ... it may be of some assistance (includes giving it a bath of saltwater and aluminium foil) ...also has some useful info what not to use Smiley if it is EPNS use a non corrosive or non abrasive method
