Go Up Go Down

Hello everyone,we went back and found a little more and with the help of all of your suggestions we feel we are getting a little closer.Found some links and iron also some type of fuel cap a good 12" down, went a little further and pulled a very old counterweight up. then we also pulled this stone which I believe it to be an Indian arrow or spear head of some sort it is broken on the left side but if you look close on the left side you can see where it was notched at the bottom to tie on?Taking off for the weekend will see everyone on Monday.

Photo 1 and 2 looks like chirt feldspar.

Photo 4 and 5 looks like a Pressure relief or Bleeder Valve and a Clevis Pin.

photo 5 looks like an old drain stopper, turn the handle on top and it crushes the diaphram  to seal a pipe or drain, only used for water, any fuel would eat the diaphram.  Keep at it!

Homefire, thank you, I found it on the net you were right on with the stone. Thanks again.

avision4u2liveby,thank you very much. That might have been used at either the school or the PO for water. I read your instructions before I go out and we are starting to find much more interesting things in our Ghost town. WE recently have discovered 2 more towns less than a mile from my home.
Thanks again

Lou, The stone is definitely a chert artifact.Look closely and you can see the remains of micro fossils in it. that is typical for Florida chert which forms in limestone when water trickling through it replaces the limestone with silica. It has the same composition as flint  but is known as chert because of the impurities in it and how it forms.  It appears to be a skinning knife. It is highly worked on one side and relatively smooth on the other. Hold it between your thumb and middle finger and back it up with your pointer. If it feels comfortable it's probably a knife....I'd like to know what type of equipment that plug came off of. Looks old. gambol
