Go Up Go Down

Yep, I went back to that old cemetary and dug up two keepers in the first two holes.  I should have quit right there because everything else today was trash.  Heh, I go hunting in the evenings mainly because I don't ever stop until the sun says to and night time in a cemetery is not fun to me in those woods.

The second hole gave me my first musket ball.  My first hole ID'ed as either a nickel or trash in my experiences.

  It was a 1905 "Liberty V" nickel!

Maybe one day I will pull a coin out of this spot that has not been ruined?? Wink

Is there any way to improve the looks of a coin like this?  How about those old wheaties that have corroded copper?  CLR is way too good and leaves me with shiny copper and much less coin in the end.

Look at it this way.....You got two good finds AND you have less trash to deal with next time.

Try soaking it in wostershire sauce overnite then rinse & wipe off. Sometimes this will improve its look somewhat. Idea  HH poppy

Triddity if I'm not mistaken the metal alloy in that coin is brass. Try the information in this site:

I read that if the date is visible in that coin, it is worth at least ten times its face value. Of course that from a collector's standpoint it may worth more if needed for a collection.
